JUMPING FROM THE FIRE  © 2005, Saverio Minicucci

So many, many songs have been written, concerning life and what it’s all about.

Lots of people asking questions, lots of people have their doubts.

And although it seems a bit uneasy, wondering what’s around the bend,

But I know a simple trick or two, to help me get through times like this

CHORUS:  So I may not know the answers, but I’m doing the best I can,

And I’m jumping from the fire back into the pan, I’m an older but a wiser man

I’m jumping from the fire back into the pan, an older but a wiser man

Everyday brings brand new choices and nothing goes the way it’s planned

Everyday I hear a million voices, telling me to go with them

And although I may seem like an easy mark, as the money slips through my hands,

That’s when I have to stop a bit, and think about where I have been

CHORUS:

Some of you may know my secret.  Some of you may call my bluff.

But after being run through the grinding wheel, I can tell you when enough’s enough.

I like to take my time in thinking and may I’ll take too long.

But I know my life a little better now and another shot will come along.

CHORUS:

Saverio - vocal, bass,  Lisa - vocal, flute,   Dave- guitar

10,000 miles   Traditional, arranged by Group W

Fare thee well  my own true love

Farewell for a while.  I'm goin away.

But I'll be back, tho' I go 10,000 miles

10,000 miles  my own true love, 10,000miles or more

The rocks may melt  and the seas may burn  if I should not return

O don't you see  that lonesome dove

Sittin on an ivy tree

she's weepin for  her own true love

as I shall weep for mine

O come ye back  my own true love

and stay a while w/ me

If I had a  friend  all on this earth  you've been a friend to me

Lisa- vocal, flute, Saverio- Hammered dulcimer, Dave- Guitar

HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN     Traditional, arranged by Group W

There is a house in New Orleans they call the rising sun

It’s been the ruin of many a poor girl and God I know I’m one

My mother was a tailor sewed my new blue jeans

My father was a gamblin’ man down in New Orleans

A gamblin’ man, he ain’t no good  He goes from town to town

The only time that he’s satisfied is when he drinks his liquor down

Tell my baby sister not to do as I have done

Spend your life in sincere misery  in the house of the rising sun

One foot’s on the platform but the other’s on that train

I’m goin’ back to New Orleans to wear that ball and chain

(flute solo)

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,   That saved a wretch like me

I once was lost, but now I’m found  Was blind but now I see.

Lisa- vocal, flute,  Saverio- vocal, bass,  Dave- guitar

THE ONE WHO BROKE MY HEART IS IN DALLAS  © 2005 Lisa Wildman

Are the bluebonnets bloomin by the highway?  Where the armadillos mosey so slow

I feel like a hand-slapped tortilla,  I tell you where I'd like to go

But I'm not suppose to think about Dallas, cuz I said that I didn't care

I could care less about Dallas, Who cares what happens down there?

CHORUS:

Yeah, the one who broke my heart is in Dallas and if I can just make it thru the day

When I'm all alone I'll sing love songs about us and how I wish I'd never gone away

Won't be goin' back there too soon.  Can't be wantin' your touch

Don't have too much to say,  Can't think about it too much

But sometimes I get to wonderin,  even though I'm not supposed to

Does the honeysuckle still smell as sweet? Will I ever stop thinkin' 'bout you?

BRIDGE:  When it rains in the summer, does your chest shake from the thunder?

Does it look like the heavens will never stop cryin?

Do the teardrops rain down til finally it's over?  Then rise like a fog off the steamin hot ground?

We broke up in Gun Barrel City, over nasty barbecued beans

Yes it's over, no it's not pretty, but I could sure go for a pecan praline

No, I don't think about us all the time.  Think too much of you anyway.

Seldom is heard a discouraging word, and the sky is not cloudy all day

  BRIDGE

 CHORUS

Lisa- vocal, guitar, Saverio- vocal, bass, Dave- guitar and Telecaster

Lost Highway/Wayfaring Stranger    Traditional, arranged by Group W

I'm travelin on the lost highway

I been there for many long days

I'm so lost and all alone

Show me Lord the way back home

CH: On the lost highway I'm bound to roam

Tryin' to find my way back home

Tell me Lord which way to go

To find my way to my heavenly home

There's too much pain and sufferin' here

O Lord please hear my prayer

I'm so tired and ready to go

Take me Lord to my heavenly home

I am a poor wayfaring stranger While journeying through this world of woe;
And there’s no sickness, toil nor danger  In that bright world to which I go.

I’m going there to see my Mother,  I’m going there no more to roam;
I’m only going over Jordan,  I’m only going over home.

 I’m going there to see my Father,  I’m going there no more to roam;
I’m only go-going over Jordan, I’m only go-going over home.

I want to wear that crown of glory,  When I get home to that great land;
I want to shout salvation’s story,  In concert with the blood-washed band,

I’m going there to see my Savior, I’m going there no more to roam;
I’m only going over Jordan, I’m only going over home, Well I’m only going over home.
only going over home. only going over home

Lisa- vocal, Saverio- guitar, vocal,   Dave-mandolin

HARD TIMES    © 2005  Saverio Minicucci

Five o’clock and the day begins.  Back to work at the factory.  It’ll be twenty years on the job next week and nothing much to show.

Living our life from one check to next, it’s all we can do just to stay ahead.   So I walk out the door and into the morning sun.

Punchin’ the clock and I’m always n time, still trying to shake the slumber. My buddies and me all share the same life and we do the best we can.

But it’s hard you know when you’re workin’ ten hours and that dream’s still so far away.  Soon another week, then another year goes by

CHORUS:  We’ve seen hard times, that never seem to go away.  Hard times, just as real as you or me.

I see the long lines outside unemployment.  I pray to God I won’t be there someday.

All we hear are the stories; the plant is up for sale again.  And the noise and the smell of the factory floor makes it seem so real to me.

That the boys in the suits up on Capital Hill couldn’t care less if I lived or died.   Just as long as the tax is paid and the vote is right.

CHORUS:  They don’t know hard times…

BRIDGE:  Like my parents before me I do what I can to keep food on the table and clothes on our backs.

Saving to put both the children through school with a mortgage and car payment due.

Wages are frozen, no union in sight, it’s work with no raise or kiss the factory goodbye.

And when I retire, if I’m still alive, can I ever hope to survive?

My wife’s on the phone and she’s telling me that she just put in for another job.  After working part time in the grocery store, she’ll help out cleaning homes.

So with the extra she makes and my overtime pay, we just might see that light ahead.  But we’ve seen that light a thousand times before.

CHORUS:  We’ve seen hard times…..

5 o clock and the day begins, back to work at the factory.   Twenty one years on the job next week and nothing much to show.

GOD BLESS AMERICA,, COLD BEER TO GO © 2005 Lisa Wildman

CHORUS: God bless America, cold beer to go.   I got everything I need and all I need to know

You know I love my country, God knows I love my drink.    Now I got everything I need and I don’t need to think

I tend to my own lawn, I’m not a political man, Who cares what’s the difference between Iraq and Iran

Driving down the road I’m feeling thirsty and I read  A sign from above, and this is what it said:         to CHORUS

I don’t like to read, that’s what TV’s for.   And our president knows the best when we should go to war

Cuz God made him president and he wouldn’t lie to me.   After all it must be true, if its on Fox TV           to CHORUS

What's the big deal about the death penalty?  Kill em all, God’ll sort em out, that sounds good to me

And why not fry ‘em on Pay per View?   Then we can have revenge and entertainment too

BRIDGE: I’m pro-life, I’m pro-gun. My pistol is for packin’, my rifle is for fun

And nothing says love like hollow point lead.   You can take my gun from my hand when it’s cold and dead

CODA: I’m proud  to be an American, where at least I know I’m free  To never talk to people who disagree with me        to CHORUS

Now I got everything I need                and I don’t need to think

Dave- vocal, guitar, Lisa-vocal, guitar, Saverio- vocal, bass

GRANDMOTHER'S RIDDLE ,Music traditional “Melody in F” by Anton Rubenstein,  Lyrics by Lisa Wildman © 2005

Grandmother, Grandmother, you are so wise,  Answer this riddle    puzzling my eyes

How can I tell when the dawn ends the night?  When do we see the light?

I lie awake when I ought to be asleep.  Is it when I can tell a wolf from a sheep?  Answer my question for all the world.

Grandmother, Grandmother, you are so wise,  Answer this riddle    puzzling my eyes

How can I tell when the dawn ends the night?  When do we see the light?

How will I know, when will I see?  Is it when I can tell a wolf from a flea? Answer my question for all the world.

My darling child,  It's when you see another person and know it's your sister or your brother.

This is the answer for all the world.  Yes, darling girl, yes it is; tell the world!

Child, darling child, it's you who are wise  You see your neighbor before your eyes

That's when the dawn puts an end to the night  That's when we see the light.

Lisa - vocal, flute, Saverio - vocal, bass,  Dave- guitar

My latest sun is sinking fast, My race is nearly run

My strongest trials now are past, My triumph has begun

CHORUS Oh, come, angel band, Come and around me stand

Bear me away on your snow white wings To my immortal home

Bear me away on your snow white wings To my immortal home

Bear my longing heart to Him, Who bled and died for me

Whose blood now cleanses from all sin, And gives me victory.

CHORUS

I've almost gained my heavenly home, my spirit loudly sings

The holy ones, behold they come, I hear the noise of wings

STANDING NOT ALONE by Roxanna Glass http://www.roxannaglass.com/

As I sat there by the water I remembered a story, About a man full of power and glory
Who stood on the water in the sea of Galilee.  And He looked toward a boat and said, "Peter come to me."

Peter stood up and walked out on the water,  And they stood there on the water by faith alone,
Nothing but the sky above them, nothing but the sea below.

By faith alone, Lordy, by faith alone

They stood there on the water by faith alone

By faith alone, Lordy, by faith alone

Nothing but the sky above, nothing but the sea below.

The men in the boat said, "How can it be?"  How can they just stand there on the Sea of Galilee?"
And Peter lost his faith, and sank into the sea.   But Christ lifted him up as He has lifted me.

The faith that they had then is the same as we have now.  We can have their faith if only we know how.
We can walk on the waters of life fearing none,  'Till we get back to our home, and the battle is won.

THE TIDES OF OUR LIVES © 2005 Lisa Wildman   Based on poetry by Harris Eckstut

V1: I remember the ocean, days by the sea

Chasing the waves,  waves chasing me

Gathering shells, sweet memories

Seagulls cry, I looked to the sky

I was having the time of my life                      to V2

V2: The kids are the same, but not the same ones

Nothing is new under the sun

Salty sea kisses on the hot sand

The sands of time flow thru my hands

I’m chasing the times of our lives                  to CH

CH: Take me w/ you (out to the sea)

Take me w/ you (you never change)

Take me w/ you, (always the same)

Chasing the changes,  changing the times,

Chasing  the tides  of our lives

V3: And now you’re gone, and I’m here all alone

Wishing I still had your hand to hold

Fishing for comfort in sweet memories

Salty sea tears are chasing the years

Chasing the times of our lives                          to CH, 2x
