A Brief History

Group W was formed in November of 2003 when Saverio Minicucci put an ad in the newsletter of the Bucks County Folk Song Society asking to play bass with someone.

David and Lisa were already performing together and felt that the addition of the bass guitar, dulcimer and another voice would add new dimension and the new group was formed.

After a brief search for a name, it was decided to take a page from Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant and name the group "Group W" after the infamous bench mentioned in the song.

Now after two years together they have finally released their first CD of music containing both original and traditional music.  Individual bio's below.

Lisa Wildman, flute, fife and guitar

Lisa Wildman was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Piano was her first instrument at 7 followed by flute at 14. She attended Rice University, Swarthmore College, and Southern Methodist University--where she studied Classical flute and Music Therapy. As an adult she took up guitar and fife. As a teen she despised country music, cowboy boots and anything else "country." After she emigrated from Texas she came to love country music.

Her influences were many and varied all the way from Jean-Pierre Rampal and James Galway to Rhonda Vincent and K.D. Lang.

Saverio Minicucci, electric bass, guitar      and hammered dulcimer

Born in Waterbury CT, Mar. 1, 1947, Saverio is the "old man" of the group.  Started playing guitar right around the same time as many others his age- when the Beatles happened.  Saverio played the bass with two groups in his earlier years- The Ultra Sound Society and the FOAM.

These groups broke up in the early seventies and Saverio turned his interest to acoustic music.  He moved to Pennsylvania in 1973 and soon after started doing some local bars.  Early influences were Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young.  Pretty soon he discovered the hammered dulcimer which he incorporated into his solo act for about the last 15 years and started listening to songwriter such as John McCutcheon, Si Kahn, Bob Franke and others.   He has shared the stage with the likes of Tom Paxton, Townes Van Sandt and Livingston Taylor.  He recorded a solo album of original music called "The Time Is Right... " in 1994 which had received favorable reviews in Sing Out! and Dirty Linen Magazines and even appeared more than once on Philadelphia folk icon Gene Shay's radio program.

With a recent reunion of the FOAM, Saverio decided to get back into playing the bass guitar and try the dynamics of a group situation again.
